FRANKIE THE ARMLESS

Tomáš Dianiška , Igor Orozovič

Cast: 6 men, 2 women (variable)

A slapstick about a boy who was not able to hug his loved one.

The stork that was bringing him to his parents bit off his arms so Frankie was born without them. However, his sincere enthusiasm is absolutely infectious. Also in the times when optimism is the only fortune he has left. He has learned to do everything that a child needs to know by feet – how to pick up a stone and throw it over a church, how to fly a kite, how to play marbles and also how to fight. Female classmates wear short skirts, he receives an offer from a monster tank and more cripples are coming back from the front line. A pitch-black comedy based on a true story focuses on tense moments of Frankie’s life when a stubborn person strives to break free from their fate and surroundings. On the background of modern Czech history, Frankie is going to fight hard for human dignity.

The play was shortlisted for the prize for The play of the year 2019 at the Theatre Critics’ Awards.

The play is available in the Czech original.
